Now that the slush is disappearing from the downtown sidewalks and your coat can come off every once in a while, it’s time to get outside and see the new work in Art Alley. Spring is around the corner!
Already, even in early March, creative minds are starting on their new works of art and there is plenty of wall space to cover! Nestled between 6th and 7th streets, Art Alley is the ever changing canvas that locals enjoy walking through, looking for that new mural or social message that someone recently painted.
It’s a pretty awesome place! You’ll want to go back from time to time because you never know what’s going to be completed next and what favorites are going to get covered up.
Who knows? Maybe you want to get your own masterpiece up on a wall for all to see. It’s easy and FREE – Step 1: Get a permit (per City Ordinance 2.80.060), Step 2: Paint! Permits are issued by the Rapid City Arts Council at the Dahl Arts Center, corner of 7th and Kansas City Streets, Mon-Fri 9am – 5pm – don’t forget to bring a Photo ID (required), requested mural location and an adult (if under 18).
